Sandpiper

The story "Sandpiper" written by Ahdaf Soueif has it´s name because of a bird. This bird´s characteristics match perfectly with the main character´s ones. This bird is a shorebird, which means that he is always near the shore, just as the main character who lives in the beach but can´t trespass the ocean. Sandpipers have narrow wings, they can´t go very far, just as her. These animals are not colorful at all, their colours are brown tones as the character´s life, it´s sparkle is dulled. And last but not least these birds hybridese such as the character, who is british and is married with an african man. Ahdaf Soueif was born the 23 of March 1950 in Cairo, Egypt. But she studied in England, that´s why most of her novels are written in english. She married Ian Hamilton, a british literary critic with whom she had two sons.
